GLOSSARY / PACKAGING & RETAIL

Watch Packaging

In brief

Watch packaging protects the watch in transit, presents it at the point of sale and conveys the brand message. It usually consists of a box, a watch pillow and accompanying documents such as instructions, warranty and battery information.

Components

  • Watch box or case: made of cardboard, coated paper, plastic or wood; with your logo and in your corporate identity.
  • Watch pillow: keeps the watch in shape and presents the strap or bracelet closed.
  • Protection: film for the crystal and case, a crown stopper to prevent the crown from being pulled out accidentally.
  • Accompanying documents: instructions for use, warranty card, battery and disposal information.
  • Outer carton and label: item number, EAN code and mandatory information for retail and logistics.

Requirements of the sales channels

Channel What matters
Brick-and-mortar retail Presentation, theft protection, stackability
Online retail Shipping stability, low volume, a good unboxing experience
TV shopping Fast handling of large quantities, robust packaging
Promotional spaces Visibility on the display, price at a glance

Plan for mandatory information

Manufacturer details, product identification, and safety and battery information need space on the packaging or an accompanying document (see GPSR). If this information is only finalized shortly before printing, the entire project is often delayed. It therefore belongs in the brief.

How we handle this at Aviano

Packaging in your corporate identity and coordinated product information complete your brand presence. We tailor packaging, labeling and delivery destination to your project; packaging and label are separate, written approval steps. Delivery is made to your central warehouse or directly to your stores.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate box for every watch?

Not necessarily. Slimmer packaging is common for promotional goods, while gift watches call for a premium box.

Does the packaging have its own minimum order quantity?

Yes. Printed boxes often have their own minimum quantities, which are higher than those for the watches themselves. This should be factored into planning early on.

Can the same box be used for several models?

Yes, if the size and pillow fit. This saves costs and simplifies inventory management.
