Packaging as part of the brand
Especially with gift jewelry, packaging plays a part in the purchase decision. Colors, materials, lettering and a message inside turn a piece of jewelry into a gift. One example is the jewelry box concept by Glanzstücke München, with sayings printed inside the lid.
Mandatory information and requirements
- Product safety. Under the GPSR, the manufacturer’s name and contact details as well as a type or batch identifier must appear on the product or, if that is not possible, on the packaging.
- German Packaging Act. Anyone who places packaged goods on the market for end customers in Germany for the first time must register with the LUCID packaging register and join a dual system (take-back scheme) for their sales packaging.
- Retail labeling. Barcode, item number and price field should be aligned with the retail partner’s requirements early on.
What affects costs and quantities
Custom-printed jewelry cases and boxes have their own minimum quantities, which are often higher than those for the jewelry. Material, finishes such as embossing or foil, inserts and custom shapes determine the price. Packaging that fits several items reduces costs and inventory complexity.
How we handle this at Aviano
For custom collections, we develop the packaging in your brand identity together with the design, samples and labeling, and coordinate it through defined approval points. For displays and grocery retail, we plan packaging and merchandising fixtures together.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate jewelry box for every item?
No. Often one jewelry box in two or three sizes is enough for the entire collection, supplemented by a sleeve or an insert for each design.
Can the packaging be sustainable?
Yes. Paper and cardboard packaging without plastic components, recycled materials and reduced filler are all possible. What fits depends on protection requirements, look and budget.
